What Size Do I Need?

Take the 3-Question Size Quiz

Answer three quick questions and we'll recommend the right roll-off — with the price to match.

Question 1 of 3

What kind of project is this?

How to Read the Chart

  1. 1
    Match volume by pickup loads

    The fastest estimate: 3 pickup-truck loads ≈ 10-yard, 6 loads ≈ 20-yard, 9 loads ≈ 30-yard, 12 loads ≈ 40-yard.

  2. 2
Watch the weight, not just the walls

Heavy debris (concrete, dirt, shingles, tile) hits the included tonnage fast. For those, a smaller bin loaded below the fill line beats an oversized one with overage fees.

  3. 3
    Check your drop-off space

Plan for about 60 feet of straight approach, 10.5 feet of width, and clear overhead space for the truck's hoist. All sizes fit in a standard parking space or driveway.

  4. 4
    When in doubt, size up

One size larger is almost always cheaper than scheduling a second haul. Call and we'll help you pick.

Dumpster Size Questions

What size dumpster do I need?

For small single-room projects, a 10-yard is usually right. Whole-room remodels and mid-size roofing jobs typically fit a 20-yard. Whole-home cleanouts, additions, and large roofs call for a 30-yard. Choose a 40-yard for major commercial work or high-volume light debris. Take our quiz above and we'll recommend a size in seconds.

How much does each dumpster size cost?

Starting prices (3-day rental): 10-yard $300, 20-yard $350, 30-yard $500, and 40-yard $600. 7-day rentals run $50 more. Every rental includes delivery, pickup, disposal, and the included weight allowance.

How big is a 10, 20, 30, or 40-yard dumpster?

10-yard: 15' L × 7' W × 3' H. 20-yard: 15' L × 7' W × 6' H. 30-yard: 22' L × 7.5' W × 6' H. 40-yard: 22' L × 7.5' W × 8' H.

What size dumpster is rented the most?

The 20-yard is our most popular size — it fits in a standard parking space, handles most remodels and cleanouts, and keeps costs down without a second haul.

How much weight can a roll-off dumpster hold?

Included weight allowance is 1 ton for the 10-yard, 2 tons for the 20-yard, 3 tons for the 30-yard, and 4 tons for the 40-yard. Overages are billed at $65 per additional ton.

Should I size up or size down?

When in doubt, size up — one size larger is almost always cheaper than a second haul. The exception is heavy debris like concrete, dirt, or shingles: those fill the weight allowance fast, so a smaller bin loaded partway is often the smarter play.
